as for y and z, ask yourself, how would i differentiate something like
$\displaystyle \frac d{dx} a^{x/c}$ and $\displaystyle \frac d{dx} a^{c/x}$
where $\displaystyle a>0$ and $\displaystyle c$ are constants?
