    Linear combination questions

    suppose that r = 3a + 2b can you express b as a linear combination of r and a?

    suppose that r = (1,2), a = (1,0) and b = (0,1). Express r as a linear combination of a and b

    Treat this just like ordinary algebra. Subtract 3a from both sides of the equation, then divide both sides by 2.
