    Velocity and Acceleration

    Any help with this is appreciated

    A batter hits a baseball 3ft above the ground toward the center field fence, which is 10 ft high and 400 ft from home plate. The ball leaves the bat with 115 ft/s at an angle 50 degrees above the horizontal. Is it a home run? (In other words, does the ball clear the fence?)

    Thanks in advance.

    Assuming there is no air resistance

     V_x= V_o \cos \theta
     V_y= V_o \sin \theta

    Time that it took for the ball to travel 400 feet:
     V_x t= \Delta x=400

    The distance the ball traveled vertically is
    \Delta y=3+V_y t

    you should be able to figure the rest out
