would anyone please tell me how to prove the limit doesnt exist by using sided limit from both sides. my prof told me that i have to show x approaches PI from the left and from the right.

Yes, you have to do what your professor told you to do. Recall that:

$\displaystyle \cot{x} = \frac{\cos{x}}{\sin{x}}$
