    Half Width Half Maximum

Can someone please show me how to find the HWHM of (3/4)(1-X^2), x between -1 and 1. This is a side exercise for my class and I'm a little lost.

    Thanks

    Do this in steps:

    1. What is the maximum value of the function?

    2. What is half of that value? (Call it y_{1/2}.)

    3. Solve \frac{3}{4}(1 - x^2) = y_{1/2} for x.

    4. Your answer is the difference between the two solutions of #3.
