Thread: partial differentiation

Hi im trying to partially differentiate

u= y e^(x^2 y^2) - y

with respect to y.

i know i need to use the product rule but im not sure how to differentiate the exponential part.

there is also another one which is

v= x e^(x^2 y^2) + x

with respect to x, but i think this is the same question really.

To differentiate the exponent part, use the chain rule.

oh right yea, so is this right??..

du/dy = 2 x^2 y^2 e^(x^2 y^2) + e^(x^2 y^2) -1
