Problem:
a)Verify that the infinite series converges. A computer gives the aproximate value 0.84776 to 5 digit accuracy for the sum of the series. Find a specific partial sum which is guarenteed to give this numbr to 5 digit accuracy. Give the evidence supporting your assertion.

b) Verify that the infinite series diverges. A comp gives the approx value of 4.74561 for the 10,000th partial sum. Are partial sums of this series unbounded? If yes, find a specific partial sum which is guaranteed to be greater than 100. Give evidence

This whole chapters been a little confusing to me.Can I just use the root test on both for the first part? I'll appreciate any help, thanks

why don't you say how far you've gotten with it.

Hint: for the first problem, you have an alternating series. how can you tell whether those converge?
