Minimum Points
Okay, so I have the following two equations of curves:

So am I correct in stating that the Domain of 1 is: -1 < x < 1 and Domain of 2 is: x ≤ -1 or x ≥ 1?
Okay, so once I figure this out, how do I determine the Max and Min points of the graphs? I do the first derivative test for each, and they don't help me. (Luckily, I am able to picture the graphs in my head, so I can determine the minimum point of 1 to be (0,1) and the minumum points of 2 to be (-1,0) and (1,0).
How do I determine these min points algebraically?

Take the derivitive.
Then do what is called a sign graph...
Then you should be able to determine the increasing and decreasing intervals. From this you can determine the x value, and thus the f(x) giving you your local extrema.
