Is there anyone who can show me in detail the steps in getting d[x^{i}]/dx, where x is real and i=sqrt(-1). Would the result be different for x>0 and x<0 Thank you very much

$i$ is just a constant. $\dfrac{d}{dx} x^c = c x^{c-1}$ let $c=i$ $\dfrac{d}{dx} x^i = i x^{i-1}$
