Secondly this has me stumped.

why do they make it so hard

$g'(t)=-\dfrac{2t}{3}e^{-t^2/3}$

chain rule ...

$\dfrac{d}{dt} e^u = e^u \cdot \dfrac{du}{dt}$, where $u = -\dfrac{t^2}{3}$
