A and B are points (1,p) and (2,4) respectively on the curve with equation y = x³ - 4.

The gradient of the line AB is?

The first thing to do is to find a value for p. I get that $y(1) = p = 1^3 - 4 = -3$

So what is the slope of the line between (1, -3) and (2, 4)?
