    limits

    lim x^3-1 / x-1
    x->1

    the answer is 3



    lim 3-x / x^2-2x-8
    x->4-

    the answer is + infinit

    x^3-1 = (x-1)(x^2+x+1)

    x^2-2x-8 = (x-4)(x+2)

    Try to solve them now.

    1. \lim_{x \rightarrow 1} \frac{x^3 - 1}{x - 1}

    \lim_{x \rightarrow 1} \frac{(x - 1)(x^2 + x + 1)}{x - 1}

    \lim_{x \rightarrow 1} x^2 + x + 1

    = 3
