    That's going to be tough to do as there is no explanation of what the x(n) are.

    However, I will note that
    sin(x) = \frac{e^{ix} - e^{-ix}}{2i}
    and
    cos(x) = \frac{e^{ix} + e^{-ix}}{2}

    sorry, the original question for the second one i posted reads:

    Determine the magnitude and phase response of the following systems:

    y(n) = 1/2 (x(n) - x(n-1))

    I realize this involves plots, but I was jsut wondering how they minimized
    H(w) the way they did
