The stone is subject to gravity. If its initial position height is h(0) and its initial speed v(0), then the equation is:

$\displaystyle h\left( t \right) = h\left( 0 \right) + v\left( 0 \right)t - \frac{{gt^2 }}{2}$.

With g = 9.81 m/sē and h choosen positive in the upwards direction.
