work done by F-
Hi,
l am asking ..perhaps a stupid question ...nevertheless its important I get this right.
Plz check methodology .
Thanks.

F=xyi-(2z^2)j+yzK
Calcuate the work done by F along the straight line joining the points (1,0,0) and (2,2,3)

This is what I did: set the parametric eqn using given points
then gather x,,y,z in terms of t
dr can be expressed in terms of t
I used the followign parametric eqns :
x=1+t
y=2t
z=3t

anyhow,everything has to be in terms of t otherwise it cant be integrated.
I integrated t :0 to 1

finally I get something like -33 which is very wrong.

Hey n22.

What did you get in terms of the integral (i.e. the function integrated should be <F,c> where <.,.> is the inner product)?

Those parameterizations will work. What did you get for the integral? Did you convert dx, dy, and dz into terms of dt also?
