For some reason, I have trouble finding the critical numbers of
why is that. it doesn't seem to me you have trouble with finding derivatives. find the derivative using the quotient rule, then set the numerator equal to zero and solve for p, this will give you the p-values for the critical points.

Some books (at least) also define p values where the derivative doesn't exist to be critical points as well.
