    implicit differentiation. updated

    if not..where did i mess up? and why does my ti-nspire cas give Undef as the answer?

    You have made an error in your second line, where you apply the product rule within the parentheses...you want a sum not a difference.

    The derivative of xy^2 uses product rule

    So...
    x2ydy +y^2

    (can anyone check if this is right please)

    It is much less likely that anyone will know you have posted another attempt if you simply edit your first post. The topic will not appear to be updated unless the reader clicks on it to read it.     Yes, this looks right...I recommend writing the tangent line in slope-intercept form however.
