i.e integrate the function y^2-3+e^y from -1 t0 1 and you will find e -1/e +16/3

Steelers72, did you notice that your answer is negative? "Area" cannot be negative. Your error is that you have subtracted $\displaystyle e^y$ from $\displaystyle y^2- 3$ when, because, for every y, $\displaystyle e^y$ is larger than $\displaystyle y^2- 3$, you should be integrating $\displaystyle \int_{-1}^1 e^y- (y^2- 3) dy$.
