Hi, I am taking Grade 12 University Calculus.

The question is.

Differentiate the given functions. Leave your answer in the simplest factored form.

I understand I am supposed to take the commons and factor them, but I'm unsure how to go about that, with all the powers :(

In this case, you might want to use the chain rule followed by the quotient rule. I can understand your reluctance to use the quotient rule. See the pdf.

Don't forget a multiplication by the inner derivative in your second term. In this case it's 1 so it doesn't make any difference, but it won't always be that way...
