# Thread: Finding a simple Trig Function with the following properties

1. ## Finding a simple Trig Function with the following properties

A periodic function oscillates between the values and . It has a minimum at and the immediately following maximum at Find a simple trig function with these properties

y(t) = ?

What percent of the time is this function greater than 10?

I have no clue what i am doing here. im assuming i find critical points after i find the function but i dont really know how to go about this.

Hey fourhire.

Hint: Think about the function f(t) = a + b*cos(ct) for constants a, b, and c.

3. ## Re: Finding a simple Trig Function with the following properties

wait im confused i though tthis was the equation : A+B*cos(w*(t-phi)). also im still little confused on where to begin with the following numbers.

4. ## Re: Finding a simple Trig Function with the following properties

Hint: For a minimum, when does the cosine have a minimum (look at a standard cos graph to see it or use calculus to find the minimum)?

Hint: Do the same thing but for a maximum (when does the cosine function have a maximum)?
