Find the scalars c1 and c2 of two vectors such that they = <5,1>
<5,1> = c1v1 + c2v2
Where c1 and c2 are scalars and v1 and v2 are vectors

As stated the problem has an infinite number of solutions!

Here are two possible solutions...

$c_1=5,v_1=<1,0>,c_2=1,v_2=<0,1>$

or

$c_1=1,v_1=<5,5>,c_2=-2,v_2=<0,2>$

Yes, I think you might have neglected to tell us what $\bold{v_1}$ and $\bold{v_2}$ are....

If that's the case, you would just need to set up and solve two equations in two unknowns.
