    Binomial expansion and pascal's triangle

How many terms are in the expansion of (x + y)^n ( i think its n + 1 but i'm not sure if its right)

How do the expansion of (x + y)^n differ from (x - y) ^ n ? [can you explain the steps of how you got the answer]

    thanks alot

Re: Binomial expansion and pascal's triangle

    The binomial theorem says:

    (x+y)^n=\sum_{k=0}^n{n \choose k}x^{n-k}y^k

Using this, can you explain how to answer the questions with certainty?
