Should I be okay if I forgot precalculus?

Hi everyone, I have a problem in math where when I take a course, as soon as I finish the final it's like I just throw out everything I just learned.
I get A's almost always in math (in precal 1 and 2 I did anyway), but I always feel like I forget what I learned before.

I'm taking calculus this quarter and yesterday we took an assessment, I'm pretty sure I got a D or a C on it (it's not graded) but I took precal 2 just last quarter..And I got one of the highest grades. I feel like if I were given a quick review most of it would come back to me, but we won't be getting that I don't think.
Is this normal in math? If you have this problem does it usually come back to you as you learn the new material, or do you have to study rigorously to relearn everything you forgot?

The only way I know is to keep using it. Now this might make you a nerd between semesters but it is by far and wide the simplest method to use. So if you are having trouble with the pre-Calculus algebra you need to review if. (If you haven't kept the text you used previously ask your professor.)

And just so you know the problem that many students have in a Calc I class is the algebra, not the Calculus.

If I actually take the time to truly understand a concept, I never or hardly ever forget it.

If I just decide to memorize a step by step procedure or a formula, I will always forget it.

    That's just me though.
