I am not sure what your question is. You say "Let g(y) be a continuous derivateable function of y" and then ask "what is this g(y)?" Well, the only thing we can say is exactly what you told us- g(y) is some differentiable function- from what you tell us, it can be

The function is z^2=2*y so I thought that g(y) is sqrt(2*y), and F=[y,z*sqrt(2*y),x*z] but I do not get the correct answer.
