1. ## Tricky Maximum and Minimum Values Question

Hi All,

I'm struggling with this one Maximum and Minimum question. I can't figure out how to factor it. The question is 4 x^3 (x-1)^3+3 x^2 (x-1)^4
Sorry LaTex is working for me so here is a picture for clarification:

2. ## Re: Tricky Maximum and Minimum Values Question

Take out a common factor of $x^2$, and then take out a common factor of $(x-1)^3$

$4 x^3 (x-1)^3+3 x^2 (x-1)^4$

$=x^2[4x(x-1)^3+3(x-1)^4]$

$=x^2(x-1)^3(\cdots)$

Try to finish.
