I dont understnd why the region in xz plane is the shape shown to the right in the solution manual. Maybe im thinking about this wrong but my sketch reflects that c1 and c2 overlap in the xz plane. I also drew my 3d sphere with parallel lines c1 and c2 which are perpendicular to the y axis.
c1 and c2 don't even lie on the x-z plane, they lie above/below it...Originally Posted by testing12

What you are looking at is a bird's eye view of the region.
