    Differentiate the given functions.

    So yesterday we just finished chapter 2, and today he gave us a review for a test that were doing on Tuesday. The thing is i'm having trouble differentiating function and I was wondering can you show me how to do these ones showing the steps.

    I only know dy/dx, product rule, power rule, chain rule and product rule. I'm confused on how to even start them, because the ones in my textbooks are easier

    Re: Differentiate the given functions.

    Let us start with the first one:
    y=4x^{-\frac{3}{4}}-5+\sqrt{3x}
    First of all you should recognize a sum therefore the derivative of a sum is ... ?
    Second you should use the important basic rule \frac{d}{dx}x^n=n\cdot x^{n-1} and the chain rule where necessary.

    Well if you came here hoping to have your homework done for you, you're out of luck. Siron has made it very, very simple for you.

    We have 4x^{-\frac{3}{4}}-5+(3x)^{0.5}

    As he explained, you simply need to use the fact that \frac{d(x^n)}{dx}=nx^{n-1}

    If you wish to receive further help, then please make an attempt.

    In the future, it would be very helpful if you reported OP's that have been deleted. I have restored as much of the OP as I can. It appears the OP'er deleted the attachments.
