Thread: Point of discontinuity of peicewise

1. Point of discontinuity of peicewise

How can I find the discontinuity of this piecewise?
Here is the function:

How do I figure this out? I know that as x approaches from the left it = 7.
How do I figure out the right one, it = 5. Do I just treat it as 5, without doing anything to it, then I answer it as "no discontinuities."

At $\displaystyle x=7$ which branch are you on?

Why did you quote my post? I don't understand.

the limit as x approaches 1 from the left is 7 and the limit as x approaches 1 from the right is -5 ... and you don't "see" something strange happening to the function at x = 1?

Oh okay!!

Thank You

It's often a good practice to quote OP's in threads. That makes it easier to moderate.
