# Thread: How difficult is Calculus 3?

1. ## How difficult is Calculus 3?

I have to take calc 3 for my major, but its been over a year and a half since I had calc 2 (in high school). From what I read online people say that calc 2 is the hardest, which i didn't find too difficult when I took it.

So, should I retake calc 2 or just go straight into calc 3. Maybe the 1st few weeks of classes we might do review, but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

Other students' opinions are not very valuable. What makes a class difficult? It's not always the material. It might be laziness or lack of preparedness. If you are familiar with your analytic geometry, trigonometry, and the first two in the calculus series, and you work hard, you should survive it.

My opinion is that if you can think in 3 dimensions fairly readily, Calc 3 is no more difficult than Calc 1. Certainly, partial differentiation is no more difficult than ordinary differentiation. And multiple integrals are just several regular integrals you do in a row. I would agree that Calc 2 is the hardest - Calc 2 is also the most unified.
