    Optimization Problem Involving a Poster.

    A poster is to have an area of 150 in2 with 2 inch margins at the bottom and sides and a 3 inch margin at the top. What dimensions will give the largest printed area?



    so you have 150=wh
    say h=150/w


    A= (w-5)(h-4)

    wh-4w-5h+20

    150 - 4w - (750/w) +20

    A' = -4 + (750/w^2)
    a'= (-4w^2 +750)/w^2

    -4w^2 +750 =0
    w=13.693


    150=(13.693)h
    h=10.954


    How way off am I?
