Phi is a 4th order polynomial equation in x and a is a real positive number. Integration is to be done with respect to x and limits are from 0 to 1.

This function is special in the sense that it involves poles. So I am looking for the suitability of the scheme, which would capture the integration correctly.
If you expand the denominator then it will be a series. Simson's rule or for that sake quadrature will only give answer up to a certain power, with a little error.
So if there is some special consideration made for such type of functions?
