When asked to perform fourier series on a function whose domain is [0, L] or [-L, L], how do you know when performing fourier series to divide by 2/L or 1/L in the integration formula?
The constant that appears in the expressions for the coefficients is 1/2 the length of the interval of interest. It does not matter where the interval starts and/or ends it is its length that is important.
