    Derivative of Inverse Hyperbolic Tan

    I thought that the derivative of inverse hyperbolic tan was:
    Derivative of Inverse Hyperbolic Tan-.png

    If so, how can the following statement be true?

    Derivative of Inverse Hyperbolic Tan-b.png

    Does it not matter if the sign in the denominator is positive or negavive? Thanks in advance!
