# Math Help - Linear Combination of a and b

1. ## Linear Combination of a and b

Use the diagram to express each vector as a linear combination of a and b.

a) OC
b) OD
c) OE
d) OF

Please any help on how to begin this is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

google vector addition or sum.

3. OC = 2u + 4v
OD = -3a + 2b
OE = -2a - 2b
OF = -4a - 2b

OF the a vector is positive. However, since you have no numerical values in your graph, I don't know where you came up with the scalar values.

5. I suspect that advancedfunctions2010 "eye-balled" the horizontal and vertical multiples of a and b and so might be completely wrong.

However, that is the basic idea. (You want "a" and "b", not "u" and "v" for the first one, of course.)

6. Sorry, it was on a grid that I didnt draw. Silly of me lol.
Thanks all tho
