    Study tips??

Hi, I am studying Calculus and vectors next month after taking a 1.5 year break from studying mathematics and one year break from studying physics. What are some survival tips on studying calculus and vectors that you guys do/recommend to obtain the best possible mark in the class?

Just from my experience, I've found nothing compares to running through a past exam paper over and over again. Some friends in my class last year had a better overall understanding of maths than me, however I got the better mark as I concentrated solely on the specific types of questions I would be asked in the paper. Youtube videos are also great as it's like sitting in a class but having the option to rewind and go back over something. These things got me an A last year.

    Calculus 1? 2? or 3?

If it is 1, you should do fine as long as you are still good with trig.

Agreed. If it's Calc I then make sure you're familiar with trig and the idea of limits. If Calc II then know derivatives and applications plus basic integrals. If Calc III then you will be doing Calc I topics in three dimensions so I would read up on 3-d geometry which can be difficult for some people.

I usually refer my friends to Paul's Online Math Notes whenever they get stuck with certain calculus concepts. He also has a nice algebra/trig review on there, so you should check that out!

And don't forget about MHF! Our skilled members should be able to help you through whatever problems you come across!

Once you have a resource you are comfortable with all that remains is practice. You can't do too much math.

    Repetition, repetition, repetition,. .....
