The problem is:

The unit vector that makes an angle [(2)(Pi)]/3 with the positive x-axis and it asks to find the component form of the vector.

We have the polar coordinates $\displaystyle r=1,\phi =120$ and we need the cartesian coordinates $\displaystyle x,y$.

$\displaystyle x=r\cos\phi =-\frac{1}{2}$

$\displaystyle y=r\sin\phi =\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}$

So $\displaystyle \displaystyle \overrightarrow{v}=-\frac{1}{2}\overrightarrow{i}+\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\o verrightarrow{j}$
