Math Help - Proving whether a statement is true or not by the use of the chain rule

    Question Proving whether a statement is true or not by the use of the chain rule

    See figure attached for problem statement at top of first page. See work below for my attempt. (Note: There is a 2nd page as well.)

    My plan of attack was to simply obtain the pieces needed so that I could simply sub them into the given equation and verify whether it's valid or not.

    However, this process took a long time, and alot of chain rules.

    Is there an easier procedure I'm suppose to be using for problems like this? Or are they expecting us to go through as much work as I have shown?
