Up/Down Arrow Limit Notation?

Hi

Does $\lim_{y\uparrow a}f(a)$ mean $\lim_{y\rightarrow a-}f(a)$ ? And $\lim_{y\downarrow a}f(a)=\lim_{y\rightarrow a+}f(a)$ ?

I think you're asking if

$\displaystyle{\lim_{y\uparrow a}f(y)=\lim_{y\to a^{-}}f(y)}$ and

$\displaystyle{\lim_{y\downarrow a}f(y)=\lim_{y\to a^{+}}f(y).}$ Is that correct?
