    Newton's Method calculus help

    How do you do these newtons method and what they do to help us?

    This is calculus.. its hard stuff especially if your prof can't speak proper English and pronounces denominator as terminator.. -.-"

    Newton's Method is Xn+1=xn - [ f(xn)/f ' (xn)]
    Xn+1= 8 - [ f(8) / f'(8)]
