    surfaces-gradient

    For the surfaces z=12-x^2-3y^2 , find
    a) the gradient at the point p(2,1,5) in the direction making an angle @ with the x-axis.

    My problem was doesnt know to find an angle @ with the x-axis.

    Take the dot product of the gradient with {\bf i} and use the angle formula.
