# Thread: find the volume of the region...

1. ## find the volume of the region...

ok this is a weird problem...up til now i have always worked with numbers, mainly functions i can graph. i dont know how to graph this. in this problem i am supposed to find the volume of the region about the y-axis and then about the x-axis using either the shell or disk method. any help would be greatly appreciated. also is there a good website that i can use to graph these functions? thanks in advance...

The voulme of a region turned 360 around the x-axis is:

$\displaystyle V=\pi \int_{a}^{b}(f(x))^{2}dx$

Around y-axis

The voulme of a region turned 360 around the y-axis is:

$\displaystyle V=2\pi \int_{a}^{b}x(f(x))dx$

Yes I could see the file attached. It opened as a PDF-file.
