finding prime, max and min point of a function

    f(x) (x^2-2x+1)/(x+1)

    1) whats f prime of f(x)
2)state the values of x for which f(x) is (i) increasing and (ii) decreasing
    3) the coordinates of any relative max and min point....

    hi

    (1) Have you tried the quotient rule ?

    (2) When f'(x)>0 , the function f(x) is increasing and vice versa .

    (3) Solve f'(x)=0 , substitute the values of 'x's into the original equation to get the 'y' s . Then you have your points .
