Thread: Am I right? (Sequences question)

The question is:
"Find a formula for the general term an of the sequence, assuming the pattern of the first few terms continues."
{2,7,12,17, ...}

The book's answer is:
a_n = 5n - 3

My answer is:
a_(n+1) = a_n + 5

So, am I right?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
