Hi forum members, I would appreciate the help with the problem attached.

Basically I need to find to functions that do not follow the rule.

Is there any technique that helps find those functions.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

For the first one, try f(x)=1/x, g(x)=1/x+1.

any idea about the second one ?

Okay, the deal with the second one is that if x goes to zero from the left, you get f(-1), and from the right you get f(1). If the limit of f(x) at 1

*and*-1 equals to 4, then the result holds. - Apr 1st 2010, 10:14 AMazaruei will give it a look.
thanks.

May I ask for further help with the 2nd problem.
