# Math Help - Differentiation problem

1. ## Differentiation problem

Deriviate:

arctan(1/x)

I use the chain rule and get:

(1/(1 + ((1/x)^2))) * ln(x)

= ln(x) / (1 + (x^2))

Is this solution correct? The book does not provide the answer, and I just want to make sure I understand the procedure.

2. That ln(x) should be -1/x^2 ..
You should differentiate 1/x not integrate it ..

3. NEVER MIND! I just realized I used intergration on (1/x). (Stupid, stupid!)

(1 / (1 + (x^2))) * (-1/(x^2))

If I'm not mistaken
