    Partial Derivatives

    Hello everyone. I don't really know where to start with this problem.

    The gas law for a fixed mass of an ideal gas at absolute temperature , pressure , and volume is , where is the gas constant. Find the partial derivatives



    (an integer)

    Hi

    When you calculate partial derivatives you must consider that all other variables are constant

    PV = mRT

    P = \frac{mRT}{V} = mRT \frac{1}{V}

    \frac{\partial P}{\partial V} = mRT \left(-\frac{1}{V^2}\right) = -\frac{mRT}{V^2}

    Thanks! I know how to do the partials, I was just stupid and didnt think of isolating the variable correctly. Thanks again!
