hey there...
regarding the example on the attachment..
how am i going to solve it using p value test..?
because, i cant find t = 2.4 in the t distribution table..
please guide me.. (Bow)

A few things:
#4: Your critical region is correct but the formula you have foron the same line is used to calculate the test statistic, not the critical value. The critical value is obtained from your table.
#5: The formula foris actually unnecessary seeing how you're given the sample standard deviation.
Now for your question. Just using tables, you won't be able to find the precise P-value that corresponds to your test statistic. The best thing you can do with the t-test is to give it bounds.
If you look in your table, notice that(df = 15) falls in between
and
which corresponds to p-values of 0.2 and 0.1 respectively (remember, this is just the upper tail so don't forget to adjust your bounds seeing how this is a two-tailed test).
This should give you the necessary information to either reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.
got it!!! Thanks!! (Rofl)
