    Max/min with partial derivatives

    I am having problems with a few homework questions. I am supposed to find and classify the critical points of these functions:

    1.) f(x,y)= x^2 + y^2 + 2x - 4y

    2.) f(x,y)= x^3 + y^3 - 6xy

    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Hello.
    To find the critical points, for each function solve the equations:
    f_x=0 and f_y=0.
