1. ## Anti-diffrentiation

Find the equation of the curve which passes through the point (1,8) given that its gradient function is 2x+5.

What equation?

How do i find that equation I am sooo stuck.
Thanks

Why is this in pre-calculus. You have used the term differentiation which makes it calculus.

If the gradient is 2x+5 the curve has equation y=x^2+5x+c for some constant c. You are told that it passess through (1,8) which will allow you to find c.

3. oh wow I should have been able to think that through thanks.

4. ## Anti-Differentiation

Isn't this problem just an indefinite integral?

Yes, but if its taught as the inverse process of differentiation (and integration as such has not been taught) calling it anti-differentiation makes some sort of sense to some educationalists.
