# Average value of a function

Average value of a function
Find the average value of the function http://hw.math.ucsb.edu/webwork/math...369596img1.gif on the interval [0, 2].

I'm having trouble doing this because I'm actually not sure how. The professor rushed this topic into the last few minutes of the lecture, and unfortunately it's on the homework. If anyone could help walk me through it I would greatly appreciate it!

what do you understand by average value of the function? what's your main problem? the integral? Whe can help you if you tell us what's your problem. :)

well I know from my notes that the formula to use is (1/b-a) x (integral from a to b of f(x)dx). When I do that integral, I seem to get the wrong answer so I'm beginning to wonder if I'm taking the integral wrong, or if my formula is wrong.

Show us hoy are you doing the integral and we could help you :) (try using the substitution u=1+x^3)
